Santa Tour with Battalion 2
December 16th - With a beautiful Saturday morning here in NJ, Santa decided he was going to take a break from the busy time this year and stop down to the Battalion 2 area of Deptford. Tacoma Fire Company was the best group to give Santa a beautiful streetside tour, since the Jolly St. Nick sees the area from the rooftops at night. With seasonal music playing, the fire trucks gave Santa's reindeer a break and towed his sleigh around town. Candy Canes were handed out by the members and pictures were taken so kids can always remember the experience before the wonderful holiday.

We would like to thank everyone for coming out to support Santa's trip to the area and making it fun for both children and adults alike!

Working Fire @ Deptford Park Apartments
December 4th - Early Monday morning, approximately 0300, Station 9-2 was dispatched to Deptford Park Apartments, for an alarm system. During the response of 9201 (Chief Thomas), County advised that they were upgrading this to a building, as they were receiving calls of an apartment fire on the 4th Floor. This upgrade brought in Station 9-3. 9201 Arrived on location finding nothing showing, however a "frantic" security guard reporting heavy smoke on the 4th floor. He did not know if the occupant of the apartment managed to escape.

9201 requested that 9301 take command of the situation, as 9201 was entering the building to investigate. Chief Thomas found residents of the 4th floor entering the north stair tower, and found smoke in the hall way of the floor. 9201 discovered a working fire in apartment 402, and advised 9301 to strike the 2nd Alarm as help would be needed to evacuate the residents. 9201 performed a primary search of the fire apartment, finding no occupants.

The crew of Engine 923 went into service with fire supression, and 936's crew assisted with the ventilation. Crews now arriving from the 2nd Alarm were assisting with the residents and evacuation of smoke. The fire was contained to the apartment of origin. There was one injury, the occupant of the fire apartment. This fire is being investigated by the Gloucester County Fire Marshall and Deptford Fire Marshall.
